This paper examines the existing housing unit poor performance in Turkey in terms of energy efficiency and resource consumption. Afterwards, the importance of energy saving in Turkey and the action plan strategies through signed agreements with the national and international arena are investigated. In this respect, low energy, resource efficient housing development will become a growing concern towards housing standards across Turkey by coming years.

This paper proposes that low energy, resource efficient and environmental housing development standards and methods should take a great attention and broad acceptance across local and private sector as well as at community level in Turkey context in the near future.
